Transformation Trainer & Host, Extreme Weight Loss

Chris Powell is a transformation trainer, co-creator and host of ABC's Extreme Weight Loss, and a two-time New York Times-bestselling author.

He was born March 2, 1978, in Phoenix. At 14 he was the smallest student in his school. His parents put a weight set in the living room; a month later the mirror changed. He earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science, with concentrations in biomechanics and physiology, and holds CSCS, NASM, CrossFit, and Precision Nutrition credentials.

In 2008 he co-founded ReshapeTheNation.com. In 2009 he trained David Elmore Smith in TLC's 650-Pound Virgin. Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition premiered May 30, 2011, was renamed Extreme Weight Loss from season three, and ran five seasons and 55 episodes through 2015 in more than 140 countries. His books Choose to Lose and Choose More Lose More for Life introduced carb cycling. He has appeared on Oprah, 20/20, The View, Good Morning America, and Dr. Oz. He now runs Move One Million and a suite of wellness programs. He married Heidi Powell in 2010; they announced a split in May 2020. They share two children, Cash and Ruby.
