Former NFL Kicker
William Ambrose "Billy" Cundiff is a former NFL placekicker and Managing Director of Development at Greystar, overseeing ground-up development in Arizona and Southern Nevada.
He was born March 30, 1980, in Harlan, Iowa, and kicked at Drake University. Undrafted in 2002, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys. Over 12 NFL seasons (2002–2015) he played for Dallas, Tampa Bay, Green Bay, New Orleans, Baltimore, Washington, Cleveland, and Buffalo. He made 182 of 239 field goals (76.2 percent) and 277 of 278 extra points for 823 career points. On September 15, 2003, he tied the NFL single-game record with seven field goals against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. In 2010 he was First-Team All-Pro, the AFC Pro Bowl kicker, and winner of the Golden Toe Award after making 26 of 29 field goals with a league-high 40 touchbacks.
In the 2011 AFC Championship at Gillette Stadium, with 15 seconds left and the Baltimore Ravens trailing 23–20, he missed a 32-yard field goal wide left. The stadium scoreboard had been showing the wrong down, leaving him farther from the sideline than usual; he had to sprint onto the field as the play clock expired. He was released by the Ravens on August 26, 2012. Weeks later, with Washington, he hit a 41-yard game-winner with three seconds left against Tampa Bay. He retired from the NFL in 2015 and moved into commercial real estate.
